CYBER SECURITY CHALLENGES FACING BUSINESSES TODAY – PART 6

I’m sure many of you who have been following this will be glad that I am at the end of this series. Just to recap, I have been exploring the categories of challenges reported by ENISA, the European version of NCSC, who have estimated that across Europe, 46% of businesses have been hit and a quarter of charities, in the last 12 months. This figure does rise for medium size businesses, to 68%, but smaller businesses are still very much at risk, and I have taken a look at the low level of cybersecurity awareness amongst the personnel working for SMEs, the lack of qualified and experienced cyber security professionals available to SMEs, and the inadequate protection of critical and sensitive information, budgets and the lack of suitable cybersecurity guidelines specific to SMEs. Today I’m combining the last 2 subjects, shadow IT and low management support.
